Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) views that the implementation of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of the Organisation of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas) requires active involvement from the public.

“The implementation of PP Tunas also requires public participation,” said KPAI member Kawiyan, when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday.

This is as stated in Article 48 Paragraph 4 of PP Tunas, which mentions that the public may report or complain about alleged violations of child protection obligations in the organisation of electronic systems conducted by Electronic System Organisers (PSE) or digital platforms.

“So if there are children under 16 years old who still have digital platform or social media accounts, the public may report or complain to the Ministry of Communication and Digitalisation or related agencies in the regions,” said Kawiyan.

PP Tunas will take effect from 28 March 2026.

Digital platforms are not permitted to provide or accept requests for creating social media accounts from children under 16 years old.

Digital platforms must also block or deactivate high-risk digital accounts belonging to children under 16 years old.

For the first phase, there are eight digital platforms that must block accounts belonging to children under 16 years old, namely YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X (Twitter), Bigo Live, and Roblox.
