KPAI Identifies 426 Cases of Child Rights Violations from January to April 2026
The Indonesian Commission for Child Protection (KPAI) received 301 complaints between January and April 2026. From these 301 complaints, KPAI identified a total of 426 cases of violations against children throughout the first quarter of 2026.
“There were 300 complaints, but the number of cases exceeds 300. This indicates that a single complainant can report multiple cases. From one complaint, we can find many instances, ranging from violations of rights fulfilment to violations of special protections,” stated KPAI Chairman Aris Adi Leksono, while releasing the child protection monitoring report for January–April 2026, as reported via KPAI’s YouTube broadcast on Monday (18/5/2026).
Furthermore, 23 other cases were identified through field monitoring, mediation, and coordination meetings with relevant stakeholders. “Monitoring efforts take various forms, including case conferences, field visits, or mediation,” said Aris.
Additionally, 14 cases were identified that did not originate from formal complaints but rather from cases that went viral within the community. The monitoring coverage spanned several regions, including DKI Jakarta, West Java, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Aceh, East Java, East Kalimantan, Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, and North Sumatra.
Aris emphasised that child protection is a collective responsibility to ensure that every Indonesian child can grow and develop optimally.
