KPAI Condemns Sexual Abuse of 10 Students in Bima, NTB
The Indonesian Commission for Child Protection (KPAI) has strongly condemned the sexual abuse of several students at an Islamic boarding school in Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). “Sodomy against children is a serious crime that results in long-lasting trauma, especially when there are multiple victims,” stated KPAI Chairman Aris Adi Leksono in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The commission has urged law enforcement agencies to prosecute the suspects in accordance with Law Number 30 of 2014 concerning Child Protection and Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence Crimes (TPKS).
The case involving the abuse of several students at a boarding school in Bima was recently uncovered. The perpetrator is alleged to be an individual with the initials RS, who serves as the leader of the boarding school. The sexual crimes were allegedly committed by RS alongside a teacher identified by the initials SY. The case came to light following reports from the local community. There are currently 10 identified victims, most of whom are students in the 7th and 9th grades.
