Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) views that children require a transition phase from the holiday atmosphere to cognitive readiness for learning. “We remind of the importance of a psychological learning transition period, that children need a phase from the holiday atmosphere to cognitive readiness for learning. This awareness must serve as motivation for educators, before children are fully ready to enter the school routine,” said KPAI Deputy Chairman Jasra Putra when contacted in Jakarta on Thursday, in response to the approaching end of the school Eid holiday. According to him, mudik is not merely a physical relocation, but a ritual that strengthens social cohesion and cultural identity roots. “Children have just absorbed traditional values, kinship, and local wisdom directly from the source. This wealth of empirical experiences is very good to explore as initial learning potential, ideally accommodated by teachers as part of classroom interactions, so that children feel their social experiences are valued and relevant to the school environment,” said Jasra Putra. His side also hopes that schools do not immediately burden students with intense heavy material. “The prerequisite of a conducive condition must be built through emotional connectivity. Such as reflective learning methods and storytelling about mudik experiences in the hometown can become effective transition instruments, so that children can re-enter the world of learning without pressure,” said Jasra Putra. Based on the 2026 Eid school holiday schedule, the government has set early childhood education, primary, junior high, to senior high schools and equivalents to have a two-week holiday from 16 March to 27 March 2026. Subsequently, students are scheduled to return to school on Monday (30/3).
