KP2MI Reveals Options, Quotas for 2026 SMK Go Global Work Programme
The Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KP2MI) has disclosed the details of labour demand, job sectors, and professional options available to applicants of the 2026 SMK Go Global programme. Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers Mukhtarudin stated that the programme is part of the government’s strategy to build a workforce preparation ecosystem directly linked to the needs of the international labour market.
Applicants can register for the hospitality sector, with placements available in Turkey, Malaysia, the Maldives, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and parts of Eastern Europe. This sector requires 14,140 workers with competencies as spa therapists, housekeeping staff, cleaners, waiters, baristas, and cooks. Meanwhile, the healthcare sector is opening registration for 12,840 people to work as caregivers, nurses, elderly caregivers, and nursing home attendants, with destination countries including Japan, the Netherlands, Singapore, Taiwan, and Germany.
Job opportunities are also available for 6,400 people in the manufacturing sector, with competencies in welding, printing, and production operations for placements in South Korea, Qatar, and Taiwan. The agriculture sector offers a quota of 4,300 people for work in oil palm plantations, livestock farming, aquaculture, forestry, and general agriculture in Malaysia, Taiwan, and Japan. Applicants with proficiency in English, Japanese, German, Mandarin, or Korean can also opt for the language training sector, which has 1,700 vacancies. Additionally, the construction sector requires 400 workers, the maritime and fisheries sector needs 220 people for roles as fishermen and merchant ship crew, and the transportation sector is seeking 60 drivers, bus drivers, and truck drivers.
Mukhtarudin explained that the mapping of these job fields was compiled based on actual demand in the field, ensuring that programme participants receive training relevant to the labour needs of destination countries. He expressed hope that the targeted placement of Indonesian migrant workers through the SMK Go Global programme would reduce the number of workers going abroad through unofficial channels. “By enhancing capacity from the preparation stage, the government hopes that more prospective migrant workers can work through official procedures, possess competencies that match market needs, and improve their own and their families’ welfare,” he said.
