KP2MI and Lemhannas RI Strengthen National Insight for Indonesian Migrant Workers
The Ministry of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (KP2MI) is strengthening the training curriculum for prospective Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) by incorporating national insight materials. This step was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between KP2MI and the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) RI in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5/2026). The signing was conducted by the Minister of P2MI, Mukhtarudin, and the Governor of Lemhannas RI, TB Ace Hasan Syadzily. The event was witnessed by Deputy Minister of P2MI, Christina Aryani, Secretary General of KP2MI, Dwiyono, Deputy Governor of Lemhannas, Erwin S Aldedharma, as well as senior leaders from both institutions. Mukhtarudin stated that this cooperation is not merely an administrative collaboration but part of efforts to strengthen the ideological and mental resilience of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI). According to him, prospective migrant workers should not only be equipped with technical skills (hard skills) but also with an understanding of nationalism and love for the homeland. He believes that through migrant workers who possess character, discipline, and integrity, Indonesia can showcase the noble values of the nation to the international community. “We want our migrant workers to become true national ambassadors. When they are abroad, they carry the Red and White flag on their chests. National insight will serve as a shield so they are not easily exposed to radical ideologies or harmful foreign influences,” Mukhtarudin said in a written statement received by Kompas.com. This is considered important because migrant workers generally live and work abroad for quite a long time. During that period, they will interact with new social, cultural, and value environments. “They work abroad for two to three years, or even longer. Every day they encounter new understandings and values there. Various ideologies exist there. Therefore, it is very necessary to strengthen national insight and love for the homeland for our prospective migrant workers before going abroad,” said Mukhtarudin. National insight is expected to serve as an anchor so that migrant workers remain steadfast in their Indonesian identity, even amidst global cultural and ideological diversity. This strengthening strategy is carried out through a comprehensive approach. One of them is through ideological literacy to equip migrant workers with a basic understanding of national resilience.
