Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Women’s Congress (Kowani) has emphasised the spirit of cross-sector collaboration in building national food security through women’s empowerment, family strengthening, and community economic development.

“We extend our highest appreciation and gratitude to all the speakers who have kindly shared their knowledge, experience, ideas, and strategic recommendations. The presence of each of you is an honour as well as a tremendous source of energy for Kowani in building a national movement with a real impact on society,” said Kowani’s Chairperson, Nannie Hadi Tjahjanto, in a statement issued in Jakarta on Wednesday.

She made these remarks at the national kick-off seminar of the “Kowani Harvest Festival National Movement for Strengthening National Food Security”.

Kowani believes that the various perspectives presented by the speakers provide valuable input for strengthening an inclusive, sustainable, and pro-people national food security development strategy.

The national seminar also served as a moment to reinforce synergy between the government, academics, the business community, professional organisations, cooperatives, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), farmers, fishers, women’s organisations, and all stakeholders through a pentahelix collaborative spirit.

Kowani hopes that the ideas, recommendations, and experiences shared by the speakers can serve as inspiration as well as a foundation for the birth of policies and programmes capable of strengthening national food security, improving community welfare, and expanding women’s role in national development.

“Kowani is committed to continuing to deliver programmes that provide tangible benefits for women, families, communities, and the nation as we approach Kowani’s centenary, Golden Indonesia 2045, and the second century of Indonesian women’s struggle and civilisation,” said Nannie.
