Kowani: Developing Children's Talents is Essential
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Women’s Congress (Kowani) has reminded parents across the nation regarding the importance of developing the talents possessed by children.
“Mentorship needs to consider the interests, age, and needs of the child while maintaining a balance between study, play, and rest,” said the General Chair of Kowani, Nannie Hadi Tjahjanto, in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday.
This was conveyed in line with efforts to appreciate and develop children’s talents through the Anugera Anak Indonesia Awards 2026, held on 3 October. In addition to appreciating the spirit and achievements of children through the awards, Kowani also emphasised that talent development must go hand-in-hand with character education, protection, and the fulfilment of children’s rights.
Furthermore, Kowani has called upon all parents, educators, communities, and event organisers to create a safe and loving environment.
Kowani also highlighted the importance of supervising children in digital spaces. The organisation believes that families and schools need to assist children in filtering information, maintaining privacy, avoiding harmful content, and recognising cyberbullying.
In doing so, technology can serve as a medium for learning and creativity appropriate to a child’s developmental stage. Through such collaborative efforts, Kowani hopes to foster a generation that is healthy, confident, creative, empathetic, and loves the nation’s culture.
Kowani also maintains that strengthening the family unit and child protection serves as the foundation for preparing superior human resources (SDM) towards the ‘Indonesia Emas 2045’ (Golden Indonesia 2045) vision.
