Kowani Congratulates Gus Kikin on Election as PBNU Chairperson
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Women’s Congress (Kowani) has extended its congratulations to KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, also known as Gus Kikin, who has been elected as the General Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) for the 2026–2031 term during the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama Congress.
“On behalf of the Kowani extended family, I convey my congratulations and success to KH. Abdul Hakim Mahfudz. May he always be granted health, strength, and wisdom in carrying out his mandate, strengthening brotherhood, maintaining national unity, and bringing benefits to the community, nation, and state,” said the Chairperson of Kowani, Nannie Hadi Tjahjanto, in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
She stated that the mandate represents both an honour and a significant responsibility in continuing the leadership relay of Nahdlatul Ulama for the benefit of the people, nation, and state.
The PBNU leadership for the 2026–2031 term is expected to further strengthen Nahdlatul Ulama’s contribution to developing human resources, improving the quality of education, reinforcing family resilience, empowering women, protecting women and children, and expanding community welfare.
“Kowani hopes that synergy with PBNU will become even closer in presenting programmes that provide real benefits for women, families, and society. National progress requires unity, care, and collaboration from all sectors of society,” said Nannie Hadi Tjahjanto.
According to her, the momentum of the new PBNU leadership also presents an opportunity to expand the space for dialogue and cross-organisational collaboration to address various national challenges, while respecting the independence, authority, and governance of each respective institution.
She believes that women and families hold a fundamental position in building the nation’s civilisation.
Therefore, synergy between women’s organisations, religious organisations, the government, the education sector, the business world, and all elements of society needs to be continuously developed in a directed, inclusive, and sustainable manner.
“May Gus Kikin’s leadership bring PBNU further progress, strength, and provide blessings and widespread benefits for Indonesia,” she added.
