Kota-Rangkas Bitung train derailed

JAKARTA: Three rail cars of a diesel train traveling from Kota, West Jakarta, to Rangkas Bitung, Banten, were derailed in Ancol, North Jakarta at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. No casualties were reported.

The incident took place when the train was passing an intersection around 200 meters from the Kampung Bandan railway station in Ancol. The passengers were transported to the railway station.

The train left Kota station with a small number of commuters on board six rail cars.

Until late in the afternoon, the state-run railway operator PT KAI had yet to reopen railway access from the Rangkas Bitung direction which was temporarily closed due to the incident. -- JP
