Kostrad unveils new uniform at 65th anniversary celebrations
Depok, West Java — The Indonesian Army Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad) unveiled a new uniform during the 65th anniversary celebration held at the Kostrad Division 1 Headquarters, Cilodong, Depok, West Java, on Friday.
According to observations at the scene, the new Kostrad uniform features a dark green, laurel-leaf pattern, different from the green-with-brown-hue worn by soldiers of the TNI Headquarters.
According to an official Kostrad Information Division press release, the laurel-green colour was chosen to convey the impression of Kostrad’s toughness. “Kostrad soldiers are also wearing the latest Kostrad field uniform (PDL) in the laurel-leaf pattern, which symbolises honour, toughness, victory, and achievement. This serves as a symbol of a new spirit to enhance soldiers’ professionalism and to strengthen synergy with all components of the nation in support of national development,” the press release said.
With the introduction of the new uniform, Kostrad troops are expected to be more enthusiastic in carrying out their duties to strengthen national defence.
During the 65th Kostrad anniversary ceremony, the Commander-in-Chief of the TNI, General Agus Subiyanto, attended as the ceremony inspector, leading 1,500 troops on the parade ground.
The ceremony was also attended by several officials, including the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (TNI-AD), the Air Force (TNI-AU) commander, the Commander of the Special Forces, the Commander of the Marine Corps, and the Commander of the Rapid Deployment Force Corps (Korps Pasukan Gerak Cepat / Korpasgat).
After the ceremony, activities continued with soldiers’ martial arts demonstrations. Kostrad showed the soldiers’ capabilities in military silat, hand-to-hand combat using toya, and the practice of ilmu debus.
Not only that, Kostrad also demonstrated the martial arts abilities of female soldiers through a one-versus-five opponent simulation.
The event continued with a defile by Kostrad troops from five Battalion-level units (Satuan Tingkat Batalyon — STY), totalling 1,500 personnel.
