Kostrad showcases pencak silat and troop parade in 65th anniversary celebrations
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Army Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad) displayed a range of combat capabilities from military pencak silat to a troop parade at the Kostrad Division 1 Headquarters, Cilodong, Depok, West Java, on Friday.
The martial prowess showcase began with the Kostrad Anniversary ceremony held at the Main Field of Division 1 Kostrad, Cilodong, West Java.
In the ceremony, the Indonesian National Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto attended as ceremony patron, leading 1,500 troops on the parade ground.
The ceremony was also attended by several officials, including the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army, the Indonesian Air Force, the Commander of Special Forces, the Commander of the Marine Corps, and the Commander of Korpasgat.
After the ceremony, the activities continued with soldiers’ martial arts demonstrations. Kostrad showcased soldiers’ proficiency in military silat, self-defence with a toya, and the mystic arts of ilmu debus.
Not only that, Kostrad also demonstrated female soldiers’ self-defence abilities through a one-versus-five enemy simulation.
The event continued with a troop defile by Kostrad from five Battalion-Level Units (STY) with a total of 1,500 personnel.
As of now, 17:40 WIB, the troop defile was still ongoing on the main field of Division 1 Kostrad.
