Kostrad Promotes Healthy Lifestyle Through Fun Run for 65th Anniversary
The Army Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad) promoted a healthy lifestyle through 5 and 10 kilometre running races as part of its 65th anniversary celebrations. Kostrad Run 2026, held at the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta on Sunday morning, was officially opened by Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Jenderal TNI (Purn.) Djamari Chaniago. ‘I would like to thank all participants in today’s Kostrad Run. Good luck in the race, and to the committee, I remind you to please record those who excel on this occasion,’ Djamari said at the start line. Among those present were Kostrad Commander Lieutenant General TNI Mohammad Fadjar, Army Chief of Staff General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali, and Air Force Chief of Staff Air Chief Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono. Also in attendance were Deputy Minister of Defence Donny Ermawan Taufanto, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto, and Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono. Beyond fostering a culture of healthy living, the Kostrad Run 2026, which attracted around 10,000 participants, also aims to realise the Indonesian National Armed Forces’ commitment to helping improve national sports achievements. Head of Public Relations for Kostrad, Colonel Arm. Asep Hendra Budiana, said the event also serves as a platform to find a new generation of runners capable of competing at national and international levels. Various entertainment events enlivened the occasion. A range of primary weaponry systems were displayed at Monas’ Silang Field, including Leopard, Astros, Caesar, Mistral, and ATAV. There was also a drum band performance from the Defence University. ‘Through this activity, Kostrad hopes to foster togetherness and a healthy lifestyle, strengthen the unity between the TNI and the people, and bring positive energy in welcoming a more advanced Indonesia,’ Asep said. He added that the 65th anniversary celebration serves as a reflection on the soldiers’ long journey of service in safeguarding the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as a reaffirmation of the commitment to being the Army’s strategic force in facing the challenges of the times.
