Kostrad Promotes Healthy Lifestyle Through Fun Run for 65th Anniversary

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Army Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad) is promoting a healthy lifestyle through 5km and 10km running races as part of its 65th Anniversary celebrations.

Kostrad Run 2026, held at the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta on Sunday morning, was officially opened by the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, General TNI (Ret.) Djamari Chaniago.

“I would like to thank all the participants of Kostrad Run today. Good luck in the race, and to the committee, I remind you to please record those who achieve excellence on this occasion,” said Djamability at the starting line.

Also in attendance were the Commander of Kostrad, Lieutenant General TNI Mohammad Fadjar; the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (KSAD), General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak; the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy (KASAL), Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali; and the Chief of Staff of the Air Force (KSAU), Air Marshal TNI Mohamad Tonny Harjono.

Also present were Deputy Minister of Defence Donny Ermawan Taufanto, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto, and the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono.

In addition to fostering a culture of healthy living, Kostrad Run 2026, which was attended by approximately 10,000 runners, also aims to realise the TNI’s commitment to helping improve national sporting achievements.

Kostrad Head of Information, Colonel Arm. Asep Hendra Budiana, stated that Kostrad Run also serves as a platform for identifying the next generation of runners capable of competing at both national and international levels.

A variety of entertainment programmes enlivened the event. Various main weapons systems were displayed at the Monas Square, including Leopard, Astros, Caesar, Mistral, and ATAV tanks. Additionally, there was a drum corps performance from the Defence University.

“Through this activity, Kostrad hopes to foster togetherness, a healthy lifestyle, strengthen the unity between the TNI and the people, and bring positive energy in welcoming a more advanced Indonesia,” said Asep.

He added that the 65th Anniversary of Kostrad serves as a reflection of the long journey of service by soldiers in maintaining the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as an affirmation of the commitment to remain a strategic force for the Indonesian Army amidst the challenges of the era.
