Denpasar (ANTARA) - Bali Governor Wayan Koster, during his visit to the Turyapada Tower broadcasting transmitter project in Buleleng Regency, requested that the second phase of construction be completed on time.

“I request it to be on time, but without lowering the quality; this is not an ordinary building but an icon,” said Koster in a statement from the Bali Provincial Government in Denpasar on Sunday.

Governor Koster himself observed that the second phase work on Turyapada Tower has reached 45%.

In the previous first phase, the 115-metre-high building, situated at 1,521 metres above sea level, was completed, capable of producing signals for digital broadcasts in northern, western, and eastern Bali, and launching collaborations with 30 TV broadcasters.

Meanwhile, in this continuation phase, the Bali Governor inspected several work points, such as the communal area, gondola path and terminal, as well as supporting areas like glamping, exhibition space, and telecommunications museum.

The Bali Provincial Government paid special attention to landscape arrangement, including the path to the parking area and connectivity between the terminal and the gondola tourism waiting room.

In addition to requesting timely completion, Governor Koster also emphasised the importance of consistent use of high-quality materials in all construction elements, as well as the utilisation of local flower and plant species to adorn the surrounding area.

“It must be consistent with quality materials; we’ve designed it well, so this tower will be far superior to others in the world,” he said.

He targeted the entire construction work to be completed by the end of November 2026, followed by the finishing stage and preparations for the inauguration in December 2026.

He stressed that this project must not experience any reduction in technical specifications, including its arrangement, which cannot be just standard.

Considering that Turyapada Tower is designed as a multifunctional tower that combines communication technology with tourism.

In addition to functioning as a transmitter for digital TV broadcasts, internet, and community radio, this area is also being developed as an educational tourism destination with facilities under construction such as a planetarium, skywalk, glass bridge, rotating restaurant in the tower body, and static restaurant.

There is also a museum showcasing Bali’s cultural excellence and an educational laboratory as an educational venue.

“In the outdoor area, visitors will later be treated to flower gardens, fruit orchards, children’s playgrounds, as well as outbound activities like flying fox; to support access, there is a parking area of about one hectare and a 1.4-kilometre gondola connecting the parking to the tower,” he said.

To encourage the local community’s economy, Koster said that the tower area will later be equipped with an MSME centre, as well as a conference building targeting the MICE tourism market with an ‘above the clouds’ tourism concept.
