The Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, responded to the floods that hit several areas in Bali, including Denpasar and Badung, on Tuesday (24/2/2026). According to him, the cause of the floods was heavy rainfall over the past three days.

“Because it has been raining non-stop since Saturday. From morning to night, from night to morning,” said Koster when met at the Bali Governor’s Office, Tuesday (24/2/2026).

Koster said that the BPBD has handled all flood issues in several locations. Moreover, there are already early flood detection tools on the Badung River.

He also reminded residents to remain cautious in their activities, given the extreme weather in Bali.

“If possible, avoid traveling long distances, especially in areas prone to flooding,” said Koster.

Koster admitted that he has not received information about tourists being evacuated in several flooded areas. “Based on BPBD monitoring, no evacuations have been necessary,” he added.

“None (have been evacuated),” he concluded.

It is known that several areas in Denpasar and Badung were flooded, such as on Bypass Ngurah Rai at the Dewa Ruci intersection, Jalan Dewi Sri, Jalan Gurita, Jalan Gunung Athena, and Pura Demak.

Like the flood that hit Jalan Bumiayu, Sanur, on Tuesday (24/2/2026). A total of 25 people, both residents and guesthouse guests, were evacuated by the Bali Police SAR team using canoes and inflatable boats. Several foreign tourists were seen documenting the evacuation process, greeting officers, and chatting in the middle of the floodwaters.

One tourist from Australia, Mick, said that this was not the first time he had experienced a similar event while on vacation in Bali during the rainy season.

“It rained heavily last night, what else can we do? I’ve been here several times in the last two years during the rainy season. It is what it is,” he said while walking through the floodwaters on Jalan Bumiayu.

He also expressed his sympathy for residents whose homes were affected by the flood.

“I feel sorry, kasihan. All the houses in Sanur are flooded, I feel sorry for them all,” he said.

However, Mick affirmed that he still loves Bali. He even made a joke about the rain.

“It’s all my fault, sorry, because a few days ago the sun was shining brightly, I got sunburned, then I put on sunscreen, then I hung it on my bag, and then it started raining, raining, raining. Sorry, I’m not serious,” Mick joked.
