Koster: Mishandling Foreign Tourists Could Impact Bali's Tourism

Bali Governor Wayan Koster has emphasised that the quality of immigration services is a crucial factor in maintaining Bali’s image as a world-class tourist destination. He stated that mistakes in serving foreign tourists could directly impact the reputation of the Island of the Gods’ tourism sector. “If we make a mistake in providing services, it will greatly affect Bali’s tourism,” Koster said while attending a Public Service Bazaar organised by the Bali High Prosecutor’s Office in Denpasar on Saturday (4/7/2026). Koster noted that public service is a basic need of the community, so all government agencies are required to provide services that are fast, precise, easily accessible, and able to adapt to the evolving needs of the public. He appreciated the holding of the Public Service Bazaar, which brought together various government services in one location. He assessed that this concept makes it easier for the public to obtain various services without having to visit many offices. Koster considers the immigration sector to have a very strategic position because it is one of the first points of interaction with foreign tourists upon entering Bali. The quality of service provided will affect tourist comfort while simultaneously shaping their impression of Indonesia. According to him, the increasing number of foreign tourist visits means the burden on immigration services in Bali continues to grow. With foreign tourist arrivals now approaching seven million, a more professional and efficient service system is required. Therefore, he stressed that managing immigration services cannot rely solely on the relevant agency, but requires synergy from all stakeholders, both regional government and vertical agencies.
