Koster Inaugurates MUI Bali Building, Costing Rp 3.6 Billion
Bali Governor Wayan Koster inaugurated the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) provincial building in Padangsambian, West Denpasar, on Saturday (18/4/2026). The three-storey building, which had been planned for several years, is now officially operational.
“With the invocation om awighnam astu namo siddham, I hereby declare this MUI building open and inaugurated for operation,” stated Koster.
The inauguration of the 7-are building was attended by MUI Bali executives and figures, community organisations, and Bali DPRD member Zulfikar Wijaya. The construction cost approximately Rp 3.6 billion, with Rp 1.5 billion coming from aid by the Bali Provincial Government (Pemprov), and the remainder from community self-funding.
“This is excellent through the gotong royong approach. The hard work was done collaboratively to build this,” explained Koster.
Koster hopes the MUI Provincial Bali building will bring fresh opportunities for Bali’s Muslim community. In the future, the inaugurated building can be dedicated to the Muslim umat in Bali.
“Therefore, it should truly be specialised to provide optimal services to the Muslim umat in Bali so that they are well maintained,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, MUI Provincial Bali General Chairman Mahrusun Hadyono expressed thanks to the Muslim umat in Bali and the Pemprov for supporting the establishment of a centre for Bali’s Muslim community.
“This MUI Provincial Bali building functions to serve the umat, the community, anyone who needs services from MUI Provincial Bali,” he said.
Although not yet fully completed and still requiring several supporting facilities, Mahrusun hopes the MUI Bali executives can soon utilise the building to carry out service activities.
“I urge all MUI Provincial Bali ranks to use this building as best as possible together,” he concluded.
The three-storey building each has its functions. The first floor is used as a place of worship and can be used for events for the Muslim umat in Bali. The second floor will be used as a workspace or meeting place for executives. Meanwhile, the third floor will be rented to institutions or Muslim community organisations that do not have offices or management spaces.
