Koster Determined to Complete Megaprojects in Buleleng Before 2030
Bali Governor Wayan Koster is determined to complete several megaprojects in Buleleng before his term ends in 2030. He has requested the prayers and blessings of the Buleleng community.
“I ask for your prayers so that I am always given health and strength. I only have about four years, which must be utilised to the maximum,” Koster emphasised while opening a cultural parade as part of the 422nd anniversary of Singaraja City on Monday (30/3/2026).
One of the major projects in the spotlight is the construction of the Singaraja-Mengwi shortcut. This project is said to reduce travel time to just around 1.5 hours. Currently, the construction of points 9 and 10 is targeted for completion in 2027 with a staggering budget of Rp 772 billion.
It does not stop there; points 11 and 12 will begin construction in 2028 and are targeted for completion in 2029. The Bali Provincial Government (Pemprov Bali) has allocated around Rp 80 billion for land acquisition.
“If this is completed, access to northern Bali will be much faster, safer, and more comfortable. This is the key to equitable development,” Koster stated.
In addition to road infrastructure, another ambitious project is being accelerated: the construction of phase 2 of Turyapada Tower. This giant tower, touted as a new icon for Bali, is targeted for completion in December 2026 with a total budget of around Rp 600 billion.
According to Koster, the area has been equipped with around 30 television stations and is projected to become a world-class tourist destination as well as a new economic engine for northern Bali.
“We want Bali not to rely only on the south. Northern Bali must rise,” he said.
Koster also revealed plans to introduce the Trans Metro Dewata mass transit bus route from Singaraja to Denpasar, as well as the construction of an integrated port in Sangsit that will serve logistics, passengers, and cruise ships.
Meanwhile, in the western region, the development of Celukan Bawang Port is also on the priority list to boost economic potential. He emphasised working until late at night to ensure all programmes run according to target.
“I work until late at night. The earliest is 1 a.m. because I’m racing against time. All of this must be completed before my term ends,” he said.
