Bali Governor Wayan Koster has denied reports that the Integrated Waste Processing Facility (TPST) in Denpasar is overloaded with organic waste. He confirmed that the results of the organic waste processing already have a designated location and will soon be transported to Klungkung.

“No (overload). There is already a place for it; the place has been prepared. It has been handled by the City of Denpasar,” said Koster when met at the Bali Governor’s Office on Monday (13/4/2026).

Koster did not specify when the processing results would be sent to Klungkung. He stated that this is under the authority of the Denpasar City Government.

“The Mayor knows,” he said briefly.

Previously, the Bali Self-Managed Waste Forum (SSB) stated that three TPSTs in Denpasar were beginning to exceed capacity or become overloaded with organic waste. The three are TPST Kertalangu, Padangsambian, and Tahura.

“Yesterday I called the mayor and the head of the UPT. They said they were at their wits’ end, couldn’t think anymore, and were stressed because they were already overloaded. The remaining processing results there are organic, which must be processed, and the processed results can’t leave the warehouse—where to dispose of them?” said SSB Chairman I Wayan Suarta on Monday (13/4/2026).
