Bali Governor Wayan Koster has denied rumours of plans to dispose of organic waste in Klungkung. Koster emphasised that what will be sent to the Bali Cultural Centre (PKB) area in Klungkung is the result of processing organic waste from the TPS3R in Denpasar.

“Lies, there is no such thing. What exists is the chaff from organic waste, composting material, which will be used as fertiliser for the supporting plant plantations at the Bali Cultural Centre. It’s not waste,” said Koster at the Bali Governor’s Office on Tuesday (7/4/2026).

Koster also dismissed the existence of a Rp 400 billion budget for handling that organic waste. He admitted to having reprimanded the party that made the statement.

“That’s not organic waste; the already processed material turned into compost fertiliser is composting material. Not waste. Distinguish it,” added the two-term Bali governor.

According to Koster, the result of processing organic waste can be utilised for greening the PKB area in Klungkung. He mentioned that the area is utilised as a green zone with approximately five hectares of land.

“There is no (budget for delivery). There is indeed routine budgeting,” he concluded.

Previously, the plan to send organic waste from Denpasar to Klungkung Regency was raised by the Chairman of the Bali DPRD, Dewa Made Mahayadnya alias Dewa Jack. The Bali DPRD will also intervene to oversee the project worth hundreds of billions of rupiah amid the immaturity of technical aspects on the ground.

“If I’m not mistaken, around Rp 400 billion is the figure to provide a place for disposing of organic waste. If I’m not mistaken, it’s in Klungkung,” said Dewa Jack at the Bali DPRD Office on Monday (6/4).

On the other hand, the Klungkung Regency Environmental and Land Agency (DLHP) highlighted the unclear standard operating procedure (SOP) for waste delivery. It is known that the plan is a consequence of the closure of the Suwung Final Disposal Site (TPA).
