The Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor) of the Indonesian National Police has named four individuals as suspects in an alleged corruption case concerning non-cash fuel sales between PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (PT PPN) and PT Asmin Koalindo Tuhup (PT AKT). The case spans the period from 2009 to 2012.
Head of Operations for Kortas Tipikor, Senior Commissioner Ahmad Yusuf Afandi, explained that the investigation began in 2022. The four suspects are identified by their initials: SW, the Marketing Director of PT PPN from 2008 to 2011; JI, the Vice President of Sales for the eastern region of PT PPN from 2009 to 2013; WTD, the General Manager of Treasury and Vice President of Treasury at PT PPN; and ST, a shareholder and President Director of PT AKT.
“Based on valid and sufficient evidence as stipulated in Article 235 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code, investigators have named four suspects,” Ahmad Yusuf stated during a press conference at the National Police Criminal Investigation Department on Tuesday.
Prior to naming the suspects, investigators had examined 88 witnesses and three experts, and conducted a case review. They also carried out searches at five locations, seizing various documents, electronic evidence, and cash amounting to Rp 2.3 billion as part of asset recovery efforts.
Ahmad Yusuf noted that the investigation into the four suspects is ongoing. Investigators are continuing to trace their assets in coordination with public prosecutors. “Investigators are still conducting further examinations of witnesses and suspects, tracing assets, completing case files, and coordinating with public prosecutors in accordance with P16 procedures for the subsequent legal process,” he said.
He added that once the case files are complete, investigators will promptly transfer them to the prosecutors. The suspects are charged under Article 2 paragraph 1 and/or Article 3 of Law Number 31 of 1999, as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001, in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, or Article 603 and/or Article 604 in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the National Criminal Code. Despite being named suspects, the four have not yet been detained.
