Korpri become a political party?

Korpri become a political party?

From Media Indonesia

Meetings involving regional governing boards and the central
board of the Indonesian Civil Servants Corps (Korpri) a few days
ago touched upon the necessity for this organization to set up a
political party.

There are several reasons why Korpri needs to set up a
political party five to 10 years from now.

(1) If the aspirations of Korpri are not responded to by the
House of Representatives, it must have its representatives in the
House to fight for its aspirations.

(2) The abolition of the interest group faction in the People's
Consultative Assembly (MPR) is disadvantageous to Korpri, an
organization whose members make up the majority of the country's
4.5 million civil servants. Therefore it must have its own
representative in the MPR.

(3) If some civil servants or Korpri members secretly become
active members in major political parties, in the next five to 10
years to come, Korpri will be an issue for these major political
parties. So, it is better for Korpri to openly set up its own
party.

(4) Korpri is now already a delicate issue for major political
parties prior to 2004 general election.

Therefore, in the next five to 10 years, a political party
will be needed for civil servants and their families.
