The Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) DKI Jakarta has affirmed its commitment to enhancing collaboration with the government and various stakeholders ahead of the 2027 National Community Sports Festival (FORNAS). During the 2026 Work Meeting in Jakarta on Friday (19/6), KORMI DKI Jakarta Chairperson Diana Dewi stressed that preparations cannot be done instantly, as they require meticulous planning, sustainable coaching, and strong coordination among parent sports organisations (INORGA) so that Jakarta can perform optimally at the national event. “Champions are not born during the match. Champions are forged long before that, through preparation, discipline, and consistency practised every day,” Diana said, as quoted from a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday. According to Diana, this year’s work meeting holds strategic significance as it marks the starting point for a major consolidation of all KORMI elements ahead of FORNAS 2027. Beyond increasing collaboration with the government and various stakeholders, she explained that through the 2026 Work Meeting, KORMI DKI Jakarta is strengthening the organisation and building a broader and more sustainable community sports ecosystem. With the spirit of ‘KORMI Maju, Masyarakat Sehat, Indonesia Hebat’ (KORMI Advances, Healthy Society, Great Indonesia), all meeting participants agreed to make FORNAS 2027 a shared target that must be prepared for from now on. “Not only to achieve accomplishments, but also to strengthen the healthy living movement that reaches all layers of Jakarta’s society,” she said. She noted that KORMI DKI Jakarta has received a significant mandate from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. The Governor of DKI Jakarta has urged KORMI to become a driving force for community sports that is increasingly massive, structured, inclusive, and provides tangible benefits for all Jakarta residents. That message, according to Diana, serves as motivation for all KORMI ranks to continue expanding public participation in various health sports activities, traditional sports, adventure and challenge sports, and culture-based sports that are part of Indonesia’s wealth. “If Jakarta wants to become a global city, then its citizens must also be globally healthy. Because a great city is not only built by tall buildings, but by a society that is healthy, active, and happy,” Diana said. She also opined that sport is no longer merely a community activity but has evolved into part of a healthy lifestyle that can improve the quality of life, productivity, and happiness of urban communities. Thus, whereas sport was once often considered a side activity, she continued, it has now become a primary need. She believes that major cities around the world are currently competing to create communities that are actively moving because they realise that a healthy society is the foundation of regional progress. “Jakarta must become an example of how community sports grow into a daily life culture,” she stated. Carrying the theme ‘KORMI Maju, Masyarakat Sehat, Indonesia Hebat’, the work meeting became a momentum to strengthen organisational consolidation while formulating strategic steps towards FORNAS 2027 in Palu, Central Sulawesi. The event, opened by the Head of the DKI Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency Andri Yansyah, was attended by all KORMI DKI Jakarta board members, KORMI administrative city boards across DKI Jakarta, and INORGA leaders, who form the backbone of community sports development in Jakarta. On that occasion, KORMI DKI Jakarta also presented a speaker from the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) to socialise the National Achievement Centre (Puspresnas) programme. The socialisation provided an important opportunity for community sports activists to understand various coaching pathways, talent development, and achievement opportunities accessible through the national sports ecosystem.
