Korlantas to Launch 2026 'Operasi Patuh' on 8 June, Targeting Specific Traffic Violations
The Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, has revealed that the upcoming operation, scheduled to run for 14 days from 8 to 21 June 2026, will prioritise a humanist and educational approach alongside the use of digital technology as a primary pillar. “In accordance with the Chief of National Police’s orders, the objective is to reduce the number of traffic violations and accidents, as well as to lower the fatality rate. We aim to achieve safe and secure road traffic conditions for all road users ahead of the 2026 Bhayangkara Day,” stated Irjen Agus.
These remarks were made by Irjen Agus while leading a readiness meeting for the 2026 Fiscal Year ‘Operasi Patuh’ via Zoom from the Korlantas Polri headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday (3/6/2026). During the session, Irjen Agus provided guidance to regional traffic directors and chiefs across Indonesia. Under the theme ‘Optimising the Transformation of Electronic Law Enforcement’, Korlantas Polri is committed to maximising the use of ETLE cameras to create a more transparent and objective monitoring system.
In his briefing, Irjen Agus explained that the enforcement portion of this regional operation will be dominated by the electronic system (ETLE) at 60 per cent. Meanwhile, non-ETLE or manual enforcement will account for 30 per cent, followed by sympathetic warnings at 10 per cent. Irjen Agus explained that manual monitoring remains necessary to reach areas not yet covered by electronic surveillance facilities. “This non-ETLE step is also to accommodate regions or units that currently do not have ETLE devices, ensuring that driving safety space can be maintained evenly across Indonesia,” he elaborated.
Regarding enforcement targets, Irjen Agus stated that field officers will pay particular attention to visible violations that potentially endanger other road users or obscure vehicle identity. “The main focus is on violations not detected by ETLE devices, as well as issues that prevent the electronic surveillance system from operating optimally. Examples include driving against the flow of traffic, vehicles without number plates, or those with modified number plates,” he explained.
In addition to these national focuses, Korlantas Polri is granting flexibility to regional police forces to adjust operational priorities according to their specific regional characteristics. This measure is based on the results of analysis and evaluation (anev) of local accident rates to ensure that field interventions are precisely targeted. Irjen Agus expressed hope that ‘Operasi Patuh 2026’ will proceed smoothly and serve as a momentum for the public to increase awareness in complying with traffic regulations for collective safety.
