Korlantas Polri opens possibility of extending national "one way" scheme

Semarang, Central Java (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) Polri has opened the possibility of extending the implementation period of the national one-way traffic engineering scheme if vehicle volumes remain dense during the return flow. “It could also be tomorrow morning if the traffic counting or the generated flow from the Trans Java direction, both from Semarang to Jakarta, is still high; there is a possibility that we will extend the one-way,” said the Head of Korlantas Polri, Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho, at the Banyumanik Toll Gate, Semarang, Central Java, on Tuesday. He stated that Korlantas Polri would first monitor vehicle volumes using digital technology from the air before deciding on the extension of the national one-way period. Furthermore, the two-star police general advised the public to arrange their return trips by utilising work from anywhere (WFA) to reduce vehicle density. “26, 27, 28 March are work from anywhere. We suggest arranging the departure accordingly,” he said. On Tuesday, Korlantas Polri officially implemented the national one-way from KM 414 Kalikangkung Toll Gate Semarang to KM 70 Cikampek Utara Toll Gate. The implementation of this engineering was officially opened by the National Police Chief, General of Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo, together with the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, and several related institutions. Agus said that prior to the national one-way implementation, Polri through the Central Java Regional Police Traffic Directorate on Monday (23/3) first implemented a local one-way from Salatiga to Kalikangkung. In addition, Korlantas Polri also applied a segmental Presisi one-way or first-stage segmental one-way from KM 263 to KM 70 of the Trans Java Toll Road. “Likewise this afternoon, the development of the flow from the evaluation and analysis by the Central Java Regional Police through the Regional Police Chief, the Head of Operations, and the Traffic Director, there is an extension adding one-way return flow from KM 459 to KM 414 Kalikangkung,” he added.
