Korlantas Polri Officially Halts National One-Way Scheme for 2026 Eid Exodus Today
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) has officially halted the implementation of the national one-way traffic engineering system for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming on Friday (20/3/2026) at 13:22 WIB.
The policy was enacted after traffic conditions were assessed as having eased and become manageable on several major routes.
Korlantas Chief Irjen Agus Suryonugroho explained that the decision followed a comprehensive evaluation of vehicle volumes passing through since the engineering began on 18 March 2026.
“On 18 March 2026, we implemented the One Way. Today (20 March 2026), we evaluated that traffic conditions are sufficiently calm and controlled. Therefore, today, Friday 2026 at 13:00 WIB, we conducted socialisation. After socialisation, we carried out sterilisation and clearance for normal traffic flow,” Agus stated in his remarks on Friday.
“Therefore, with the permission of the National Police Chief, for the homecoming flow or National One Way, we temporarily declare it closed at 13:22 WIB,” Agus added.
With the national one-way scheme halted, vehicles can now travel normally both towards Jakarta and along the Trans-Java direction.
Agus assured that current traffic conditions are monitored as stable, though police remain vigilant in overseeing dynamic field developments.
As the homecoming flow becomes controlled, police units are now redirecting efforts towards securing the series of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah celebrations.
“This Friday evening, we will prepare readiness for Eid security, including preparations for takbiran, Eid prayers, as well as securing tourist spots,” Agus revealed.
In addition to Eid security, Korlantas Polri is also beginning to formulate strategies to address the Eid return flow.
Several traffic engineering scenarios are being prepared, including coordination with stakeholders to determine the use of functional toll roads or the potential reimplementation of the national one-way system based on the latest traffic technology monitoring.
