Jakarta (ANTARA) — Indonesia’s Traffic Police Corps (Korlantas Polri) has begun implementing ramp checks or comprehensive public transport inspections at KM 81 on the Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) toll road on the second day of the 2026 Ketupat Operation on Saturday (14 March).

Brigadier General Faizal, Director of Law Enforcement at Korlantas Polri, stated that the initiative aims to mitigate potential accidents.

“The purpose is to anticipate situations involving drivers who lack the proper capability to drive safely and so forth,” he said at the Command Centre at KM 92 in Bekasi, West Java, on Sunday morning.

During the checkpoint operations, he explained, health checks are conducted, vitamins are distributed, and vehicles are inspected to ensure they meet safety standards.

“Of course, this is conducted in cooperation with colleagues from the Transportation Department and the Health Department,” he added.

Furthermore, he urged travellers returning to their hometowns (pemudik) to make use of rest areas to prevent road accidents.

“We certainly urge all mudik travellers not to push themselves too hard, keep their emotions in check, and use the rest areas available on both toll roads and main arterial roads as places to rest,” he said.

Regarding rest areas, he noted that all regional police have established security posts and integrated service posts that mudik travellers can utilise for rest.
