Korlantas Estimates National One-Way for Return Flow to Be Implemented on 24 March
The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps is planning strategies to manage the Eid al-Fitr return flow. A national one-way traffic arrangement is expected to be implemented starting on 24 March, coinciding with the predicted peak of the return traffic. “Later, we estimate that on the 24th, we will prepare the one-way for the return flow. It is likely that we will implement the one-way in the first phase from kilometre 414 to Pejagan. Or, if the return flow is still high, we will extend it further,” said Head of Korlantas Polri Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho at the command centre at kilometre 29 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, North Cikarang, on Friday (20/3/2026). The implementation of this one-way system will be situational, depending on the available traffic counting data. In addition, Inspector General Agus stated that his side is also preparing other strategies to anticipate the surge in vehicle volume returning to Jakarta and its surroundings. “At the same time, we will devise strategies because the outbound flow is high, so naturally the return flow will also be high. Therefore, traffic engineering strategies with stakeholders will certainly involve us compiling various scenarios,” he said. Furthermore, Polri will focus on securing the night of takbiran, Eid prayers, and security at tourist locations. Polri will coordinate with other relevant parties to secure the public’s return flow. “On the 24th, when the outbound flow prediction based on traffic counting at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate indicates it, we will implement the national one-way for the return flow,” he stated.
