Korem 045 extinguishes forest and land fires in Belilik, Central Bangka

Pangkalpinang (ANTARA) - Soldiers from Korem 045/Garuda Jaya of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province battled to extinguish a forest and land fire covering five hectares in Belilik Village, Central Bangka Regency, on Saturday (29/8/2026).

“Alhamdulillah, the forest and land fire in Belilik Village was successfully extinguished,” said Commander of Korem 045/Garuda Jaya, Brigadier General TNI Nur Wahyudi, in Pangkalpinang on Saturday.

He stated that in preventing and tackling forest and land fires in Belilik Village, Namang District, Central Bangka Regency, Korem 045/Garuda Jaya deployed personnel from Infantry Battalion 147/Ksatria Garuda Jaya who moved quickly to extinguish the fire in the area.

“Personnel from Infantry Battalion 147/KGJ received a report from the community that a fire had broken out in shrubland which could spread to residential areas. They promptly deployed one fire engine to extinguish the fire in Belilik Village,” he said.

“We continue to carry out forest and land fire prevention efforts through patrols, and public awareness campaigns will be further intensified to anticipate land fires, especially during the dry season,” he added.

He urged the public not to clear land by burning, as it has significant potential to cause larger land fires due to hot weather accompanied by strong winds.

“We urge the public not to burn land, and if there are any hotspots or fires, to immediately report them to TNI, Polri, BPBD and other relevant agencies to accelerate the extinguishing of land and forest fires during this extreme dry season,” he said.
