Korean warships to visit RI

JAKARTA: Three of South Korea's latest warships will pay a four-day visit to Indonesia next week to strengthen friendship between the two countries' Navies.

The South Korean Embassy said in a statement here on Friday that the three warships -- ROKS Yangmanchoon, ROKS Wonsan, and ROKS Daecheong -- will arrive in Surabaya, East Java on Thursday with 820 officers and crew led by Rear Adm. Joong Ryun Kim.

The statement said the visit was also aimed at celebrating the 30th anniversary of amity between Korea and Indonesia.

During the visit, the ROK Navy officers and crew will participate in various activities including friendly sports matches and cultural site tours. --JP
