Korean warships to visit Jakarta

JAKARTA: A Korean naval military fleet, consisting of three
South Korean warships carrying 800 cadets and sailors, is
scheduled to visit Jakarta from Dec. 27 to Dec. 30, the Korean
Embassy said in a statement on Sunday.

The visit, which is held every two years, is aimed mainly at
strengthening military friendship and partnership with the
country being visited, the statement said.

The program is also intended to provide on-the-job training
for the Korean Naval Academy cadets.

During their stay in Jakarta, the ships will be open to the
public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A cultural exhibition will be held
on board one of the ships that will present Korean culture and
defense industry products.

On Dec. 29 the entourage will hold a musical parade at Taman
Mini Indonesia Indah in East Jakarta from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. -- JP
