Korean warships to visit Jakarta
JAKARTA: A Korean naval military fleet, consisting of three South Korean warships carrying 800 cadets and sailors, is scheduled to visit Jakarta from Dec. 27 to Dec. 30, the Korean Embassy said in a statement on Sunday.
The visit, which is held every two years, is aimed mainly at strengthening military friendship and partnership with the country being visited, the statement said.
The program is also intended to provide on-the-job training for the Korean Naval Academy cadets.
During their stay in Jakarta, the ships will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A cultural exhibition will be held on board one of the ships that will present Korean culture and defense industry products.
On Dec. 29 the entourage will hold a musical parade at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah in East Jakarta from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. -- JP
