Korea shuns RI plywood
As one of Indonesia's biggest plywood importers and stockist in South Korea, it is a great pity for me to observe that many importers and distributors in my country have now shunned Indonesian plywood due to the uncertainty in trading procedures imposed by the Indonesian Wood Panel Association (Apkindo).
Since Apkindo's appointment of Sesil Trading Co. Ltd. as the sole buyer authorized to handle imports from Indonesia, many Korean importers have sought other suppliers.
What Sesil Trading Co. is concerned about is simply raking off a two percent commission from genuine importers. If Apkindo wants to have a sole distributor in Korea, like Nippindo in Japan, Apkindo should first examine the Korean law carefully.
