Winner deserves support

From Koran Tempo

The nation's first direct presidential election has taken
place and the two top finishers will take part in an upcoming
runoff unless one of the candidates can secure a simple majority.

This direct election has been a valuable experience for the
entire country to make further progress in democracy and
politics. The public received a political education during the
election campaign. With greater awareness, people will no longer
be easy targets for politicians, but will instead be smart enough
to elect good leaders.

The orderly, safe and smooth July 5 presidential election was
also part of our political education. In this way, election
results can be better guaranteed because illegal practices have
been minimized.

Consequently, whichever candidate eventually wins the
presidential election should be supported by all of us so they
can perform their duties for the betterment of the nation.
