The day long awaited by cooperative movement leaders has finally arrived. Koperasi Awards 2026 will be held by detikcom together with Indonesia’s Ministry of Cooperatives (Kemenkop) this evening at 19.00 WIB.
This event serves as a moment to give appreciation to various figures who have taken an active role in the guidance, development and strengthening of cooperatives as part of the people’s economy movement.
Speaking about cooperatives in Indonesia cannot be separated from the figure of Mohammad Hatta (Bung Hatta). The first Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia is known as the Father of Indonesian Cooperatives thanks to his ideas in positioning cooperatives as one of the foundations of the people’s economy.
For Bung Hatta, cooperatives are not merely business entities. Cooperatives are also a vehicle for building the economy based on the spirit of togetherness and mutual cooperation.
These ideas have since become an important part of the journey of the cooperative movement in Indonesia to this day. One example is the priority programme of President Prabowo Subianto, the Red and White Village/Sub-district Cooperatives (KDKMP).
