Kopassus: Report of Slapping Incident by Kopassus Commander is a Hoax
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Army’s Special Forces Command (Kopassus) has denied a social media post regarding an alleged slapping incident carried out by Kopassus Commander Lieutenant General Djon Afriandi against an individual at the State Palace.
The official Kopassus public relations Instagram account @penkopassus posted a video stating that the post about the slapping is a hoax.
According to the statement in the video, the information was deliberately spread by certain parties with malicious intent.
“In fact, this is merely a fabrication without valid evidence; this information was intentionally disseminated to create unrest and divide the internal solidarity of state institutions,” as quoted in the video’s caption.
Kopassus also urged the public not to easily believe or be swayed by the hoax news.
“Do not become a spreader of hoaxes; always ensure the accuracy of information from official and trusted sources,” stated penkopassus.
For context, a post has been circulating on social media claiming that Kopassus Commander Lieutenant General Djon Afriandi slapped someone at the State Palace a few days ago because he was not given the opportunity to meet President Prabowo Subianto.
