Kopassus Member's Motorcycle Stolen in Cakung, Two Suspects Arrested
A member of the Indonesian Army’s Special Forces Command (Kopassus), identified by the initials SA (20), became a victim of motorcycle theft while visiting his parents’ home in Cakung, East Jakarta, on Saturday (20/6). Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the case.
The theft began when SA, who was attending training at Kopassus Cijantung, decided to go home to Cakung. He borrowed a motorcycle from a friend for the journey.
SA arrived at his parents’ house around 5 p.m. local time and parked the motorcycle in front of the house with the handlebars locked. He then went inside. At approximately 6:30 p.m., when he went to the front of the house, he suddenly noticed the motorcycle was missing.
SA informed his parents of the incident and attempted to review CCTV footage belonging to a neighbour. The recording showed a male perpetrator passing by and immediately taking the motorcycle.
The incident was subsequently reported to the authorities. Police pursued the perpetrator using clues from the GPS device installed on the motorcycle.
Cakung Police Chief AKP Andre Tri Putra stated that by around 9:35 p.m. on the same day, the team successfully apprehended a male suspect along with the victim’s motorcycle, which the suspect was riding on Jalan Pahlawan, Duren Jaya Village, East Bekasi District, Bekasi City.
Police then searched the clothing of the suspect, named Harto, and found a T-shaped lockpick key, two key bits, and two magnetic keys.
Harto confessed to police that he had stolen the victim’s motorcycle. He also admitted he planned to sell the vehicle to his fence, a man from Karawang named Sikin, for Rp2.5 million. They had arranged to meet near the East Bekasi Toll Exit.
Based on Harto’s statement, police moved to locate Sikin. Sikin was arrested on Jalan Chairil Anwar, Margahayu Village, East Bekasi District, at around 11:50 p.m. the same day.
Both suspects and the evidence have been taken to the Cakung Police Station for further investigation. The perpetrators are charged under Article 477 and/or Article 591 of the Criminal Code.
