A single judge at the South Jakarta District Court has ordered the Metro Jaya Regional Police to continue the handling of the acid attack case against the Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, Andrie Yunus. This decision was part of a pre-trial ruling delivered on Tuesday (2/6/202lar).

KontraS Coordinator, Dimas Bagus Arya, stated that the single judge granted the petition in part. The judge also ordered the respondent—specifically the Head of Metro Jaya Regional Police via the Director of General Criminal Investigation—to proceed with the legal process regarding the acid attack on Andrie Yunus.

“To that end, the Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) urges the Metro Jaya Regional Police to immediately and thoroughly continue the investigation as mandated by the Decision of Case Number 62/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL,” he said in a statement confirmed on Wednesday (3/6/2026).

He emphasised that the handling of the case must proceed without delay. The Metro Jaya Regional Police have also been called upon to avoid seeking excuses that could hinder access to justice for the victim.

“Compliance with court rulings is both a legal obligation and a reflection of institutional accountability to the victim, the public, and the principles of a constitutional state,” said Dimas.

He further urged the Metro Jaya Regional Police to promptly follow up on the findings of an independent research study conducted by YLBHI, KontraS, and LBH Jakarta. The findings suggest the potential involvement of more than four field perpetrators in the case.

Furthermore, the police must uncover all actors involved in the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, including those who ordered the act, participated, assisted, or funded the operation.

“The Metro Jaya Regional Police must regularly provide updates on the investigation to the victim and the public. There must be no more ambiguity, shifting of authority, or information that causes confusion regarding the status of the case handling,” he added.
