JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - KontraS Working Body Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya stated that his organisation will not attend the first hearing of the acid attack case against KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus at the Military Court II-08 on 29 April 2026.

“We are responding to the fact that the first hearing is on the 29th, our side will not come,” Dimas said in front of the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, on Friday (17/4/2026).

“We fully reject how the process is proceeding at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta,” he emphasised.

“That’s right, yes,” he added.

Dimas explained the reasons, stating that from the outset, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) had promised to uncover the acid attack case transparently and accountably.

However, in the process, KontraS has not seen that commitment.

This is indicated by the lack of open information regarding the results of the investigation and prosecution.

Yet, the case occurred a month ago, on 12 March 2026.

“The four suspected perpetrators who were released by the TNI Main Provost yesterday on 18 March were also not successfully shown their faces,” Dimas said.

This includes suspicions of the involvement of 16 people as field actors in the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. However, the TNI has not responded to the findings of the activists.

“So why should we trust an authority that breaks its own promise to resolve it transparently and accountably?” he said.

It was previously reported that the Military Court II-08 Jakarta will hold a hearing for the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

This hearing is being held after the Military Prosecutor’s Office II-07 Jakarta handed over the case file to the Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Thursday (16/4/2026).

“For now, we will hold the first hearing on Wednesday, 29 April 2026. The agenda is the reading of the indictment,” said the Head of the Military Court II-08, Colonel Chk Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto, at the Military Court II-08 on Thursday.

Fredy assured that the court has the authority to try the case, both in terms of subject and legal jurisdiction.
