KontraS Suspects Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus Not Motivated by Personal Vendetta
KontraS has responded to the suspected personal vendetta motive behind the acid attack on its Deputy Coordinator, Andrie Yunus. KontraS suspects that the action was not carried out based on personal intent.
“It is strongly suspected that this could not have proceeded on the basis of personal intent alone,” said M Yahya Ihyaroza, representative of KontraS’s Legal Division, to reporters on Thursday (16/4/2026).
On the other hand, Yahya stated that KontraS’s internal circle still does not know the motive for the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. However, he said, KontraS has found facts indicating that the action was carried out in an organised manner.
“As for the motive, up to this point we have not uncovered what it is. Was the Andrie case truly driven by revenge? By resentment? Would it be done in such a systematic and organised way?” Yahya explained.
“Therefore, for Andrie’s case, the relevant authorities, whether Puspom or the Police, should open this case transparently,” he added.
Previously, the motive behind the acid attack by four TNI members on Andrie Yunus has been revealed. The results of the military investigators’ examination show that the action was based on a personal vendetta motive.
“For the motive, up to this point what we have delved into through the examination minutes is that the motive carried out by the defendants was purely personal revenge against Mr AY (Andrie Yunus),” said Colonel Chk Andri Wijaya, Head of the Military Prosecutor’s Office II-07 Jakarta, at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta, on Thursday (16/4).
The case file for the acid attack has been officially handed over from the Military Prosecutor’s Office II-07 Jakarta to the Military Court II-08 Jakarta. In addition to submitting the case file, the Prosecutor also handed over evidence items consisting of one tumbler glass, one pair of glasses, one white T-shirt, one pair of shoes, one pair of long trousers, one shirt, one black helmet and foam, one flash disk containing video, one used battery bottle, and one bottle of remaining rust cleaner liquid.
