JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS) has revealed the latest condition of its activist, Andrie Yunus, who became a victim of a sulphuric acid attack by TNI personnel.

KontraS Managing Board Chair Indria Fernida stated that Andrie is still undergoing intensive treatment in hospital to date.

Andrie’s condition has not shown significant improvement despite more than two weeks of care.

“I want to convey that Andrie’s condition has been in the high care unit for more than two weeks, with attached and intensive care for his eyes and burns,” said Indria during a general public hearing (RDPU) at the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission III, on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

Concerns over infection and other medical conditions are the reasons for restricting visits.

“But this also shows that his condition is not well at all, even though from the outside there is no clearer information,” Indria explained.

Therefore, Indria emphasised that the situation faced by Andrie should be a serious concern for the state.

On that occasion, Indria also conveyed that the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has provided assistance since the beginning of the incident.

Previously, Andrie Yunus became a victim of a sulphuric acid attack by soldiers from the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) in Central Jakarta on Thursday night (12/3/2026).

KontraS Working Body Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya said the attack caused serious injuries to several parts of the victim’s body.

“Especially on the right and left hand areas, face, chest, and eye area,” Dimas revealed to Kompas.com on Friday (13/3/2026).

The incident occurred after Andrie finished participating in a podcast recording titled “Militarism and Judicial Review in Indonesia” at the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) in Jakarta.
