KontraS Pushes for Formation of Joint Fact-Finding Team to Investigate Andrie Yunus Attack Case
The Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS) is urging the establishment of a joint fact-finding team (TGPF) to thoroughly investigate the acid attack on its activist, Andrie Yunus. It is calling on President Prabowo Subianto to take political action. “We also request that this forum encourage the president to issue a political decision, namely to form a joint fact-finding team,” said KontraS Working Body Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya during a hearing at Commission III of the DPR in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (31/3/2026). He explained that the push for the TGPF is driven by obstacles in handling the case, both in terms of legal formalities and political factors. “What is the reason? First, we see two obstacles here: legal formal obstacles and political obstacles,” he stated. According to Dimas, this case does not only impact the victim individually but also has the potential to create broader effects on civil society work, particularly in human rights advocacy. “In this case, the victim factor is not just Andrie Yunus. We argue that the threat and attack on Andrie Yunus could lead to a domino effect in the future,” he said. KontraS believes an independent TGPF is needed to comprehensively uncover the case, not only the field perpetrators but also the intellectual actors and motives behind it. “Public work, human rights defence work, and work to improve the quality of democracy will still face intimidation and repression from parties who may never be on the same wavelength as civil society,” he stated. In addition, KontraS is pushing for the resolution of this case through the general judiciary mechanism to ensure transparency and accountability in the legal process. “And finally, we urge the resolution of this case through the general judiciary mechanism,” he said.
