Kontras Coordinator Reveals Latest Condition of Andrie Yunus, Still Under Care in HCU
JAKARTA - Kontras Coordinator, Dimas Bagus Arya, stated that Andrie Yunus is still being treated in the High Care Unit (HCU) at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) after being doused with acid on Thursday night, 12 March 2026.
“As a result, he cannot communicate regularly, even with his family,” Dimas said during a press conference held at the HDI Building in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.
The most concerning condition is the burn on his right eye due to acid liquid trauma, with a damage level of 3 out of 4.
“So it can be considered as something severe,” he added.
Therefore, Dimas said, RSCM immediately performed stem cell surgery, namely transferring tissue from the left eye to the right eye.
“As one of the initial responses or a quick action effort to then carry out the eye healing process,” he explained.
Dimas stated that although the wound is classified as severe, Andrie’s eye is said to still be usable for vision, meaning no permanent blindness.
“What is concerning is that it may not return to 100% eye function, so there will be a decline in function,” he added.
