Kontras Activist Doused with Caustic Liquid, Police Chief: 86 CCTV Footage Being Analysed, Additional Evidence Being Gathered
Jakarta - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has revealed that 86 surveillance camera (CCTV) recordings have been collected and analysed to investigate the case of the caustic liquid attack on activist Andrie Yunus from the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras).
“Yesterday, 86 CCTV recordings were presented, and currently, they are being thoroughly examined. Clearly, we will not stop there,” said the Police Chief at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3/2026). He emphasised that the dozens of recordings are now being deeply investigated by the investigative team.
“However, we are also seeking sources of information, other evidence, other physical evidence, and then we will compile everything to truly uncover this case or at least bring it to light,” he added.
Sigit further stated that the investigation into this case is a direct order from the President to handle it thoroughly.
“The President has clearly ordered us to investigate it to the end. Of course, the National Police are currently working on it,” he said.
He also requested prayers and support from the public so that the investigation process can soon yield results.
Previously reported, Deputy Coordinator of Kontras Andrie Yunus became a victim of a caustic liquid dousing by unidentified individuals on Thursday night (12/3/2026).
