KontraS Activist Andrie Yunus, Victim of Acid Attack, Undergoes Skin Grafting
The Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS) has provided an update on the condition of activist Andrie Yunus, who was the victim of an acid attack. Andrie has undergone a procedure to remove dead skin tissue and a skin grafting method.
“On 17 March 2026, Andrie Yunus underwent further medical procedures to remove dead skin tissue and provide early treatment to all areas affected by burns,” said the Head of the Impunity Monitoring Division of KontraS, Jane Rosalina Jane, during a press conference on Wednesday (18/3/2026).
The skin grafting process was performed on the face. Meanwhile, the neck, chest, and right arm still have wounds.
“Especially on the face, including skin grafting on the face. Whereas on the neck, chest, and right arm areas, there are still quite deep wounds so skin grafting cannot yet be done,” she explained.
She said this medical procedure might need to be done more than once.
“This surgical action may need to be done more than once. Therefore, we ask for your prayers,” she stated.
Suspected Perpetrators of the Acid Attack
It is known that the TNI’s Puspom has detained four TNI members suspected of carrying out the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. Puspom TNI has also examined the perpetrators.
“Carrying out activities to file a police report, possibly later from the victim witness. Then carrying out temporary detention of the four suspects,” said the Deputy Chief of Puspom TNI, Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto, during a press conference at TNI Headquarters, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026).
The four perpetrators are initialled NDP, SL, BWH, and ES. Puspom TNI is currently conducting further investigations.
