KONI Chairman Meets Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani, Confirms PON XXII/2028 on Track
On Thursday, 5 June 2025, Chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Lieutenant General (Ret.) Marciano Norman paid a courtesy visit to Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Roeslani.
The KONI chairman primarily expressed his appreciation for Rosan's role as Chairman of the Indonesian Weightlifting Federation (PB PABSI) for the 2024–2028 term. Indonesian weightlifting achievements have continued to soar, culminating in a historic first when weightlifter Rizki Juniansyah won gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The KONI chairman also outlined plans for the 22nd National Sports Week (PON XXII/2028), to be held in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), confirming that preparations remain on schedule. He reported that a meeting had been held on 2 June 2025 between himself, NTT Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena, and NTB Governor Dr Lalu Muhamad Iqbal. Both governors firmly declared their readiness to co-host PON XXII/2028.
The event is expected to feature approximately 600 to 700 competition events, drawn from Olympic sports disciplines, the National Sports Grand Design (DBON) categories with potential in international multi-sport events, and host-selected sports.
