Kondisi JPO Sarinah Usai Direvitalisasi, Pelican Crossing Tetap Beroperasi
The Sarinah pedestrian overpass (JPO) on MH Thamrin Street in Central Jakarta is now in operation after revitalisation. The structure connects MH Thamrin Street in front of Sarinah Mall, the Transjakarta MH Thamrin stop, and MH Thamrin Street in front of the Bawaslu building.
Detikcom observed at the location on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, at 16:10 Western Indonesian Time, that the Sarinah JPO can be traversed using the lift from the front of Sarinah Mall and from the front of the Bawaslu building. From the direction of the Transjakarta MH Thamrin Stop, users can access both the lift and the escalator stairs.
The Sarinah JPO has also been decorated with a Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr theme on the ceiling of the bridge. The JPO Sarinah also appeared clean.
A number of residents were seen already using the JPO. Some were even seen taking photographs on the Sarinah JPO.
Meanwhile, the pelican crossing located around the MH Thamrin Stop remains in operation. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung also explained that the use of the lift and the Sarinah JPO is prioritised for people with disabilities.
“Everyone has a choice. Whether to use the lift or to use the pelican crossing, which we still operate. This way, people who enjoy walking will have a crossing option, but those in need or with disabilities can make use of it,” Pramono told reporters after inspecting the Sarinah JPO in Central Jakarta on Monday, 2 March.
Pramono had also previously inaugurated the Sarinah JPO. The Sarinah JPO is described as the first JPO owned by Jakarta.
“This JPO is the first one owned by Jakarta. It was inaugurated by Bang Ali Sadikin on 21 April 1968. Of course this is historic, and today we revitalise it to make the JPO friendly to people with disabilities,” he said.
