Konawe Government and PT OSS Collaborate to Strengthen Vocational Training Centre: Preparing Skilled Local Workforce
The Konawe Regency Government continues to strengthen its commitment to improving the quality of local human resources. Through a strategic partnership with PT Obsidian Stainless Steel (PT OSS), the Konawe administration is seeking to optimise the role of the Vocational Training Centre (BLK) as a hub for workforce skills development.
A meeting between Konawe Regent Yusran Akbar and PT OSS management was held on Monday (21/7/2025), discussing in depth efforts to strengthen BLK facilities as a more effective and responsive training venue for industrial needs, particularly in the mining and manufacturing sectors.
"Our BLK building is already adequate, but it still requires supporting equipment, especially heavy machinery, which is crucial for technical training. With complete equipment, we can produce local workers who are job-ready and competent according to industry standards," said Regent Yusran.
During the meeting, Yusran directly proposed PT OSS's support in procuring training facilities, as a form of synergy between the regional government and the industrial sector in building a competitive employment ecosystem.
PT OSS welcomed the proposal. The company considers the strengthening of the BLK to be in line with its commitment to implementing corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes, particularly in developing local human resource capacity.
"We fully support this initiative. Investment in training and developing the local workforce is part of our responsibility to contribute to the progress of the regions where we operate," said a representative of PT OSS management.
The synergy between the Konawe Regency Government and PT OSS is expected to become an important milestone in driving local workforce absorption, reducing unemployment, and strengthening the position of Konawe's younger generation in the job market, both nationally and globally.
