Commissioner of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) Mohammad Choirul Anam has urged the police to swiftly uncover the case of the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. According to him, the development of the investigation into the case has already shown a clear direction.

“One of the important aspects in the acid attack is the step that we consider positive by the police in opening up the process. So yesterday, Polda Metro Jaya explained what they have obtained, the direction it is heading, and so on,” said Choirul Anam to reporters in Padalarang, West Bandung Regency, on Tuesday (17/3/2026).

He assessed that the gathering and deepening of evidence, including surveillance camera recordings, demonstrates accountable efforts. The police have already collected more than 80 CCTV cameras to uncover the acid attack case.

“One significant explanation is that 86 CCTVs have been obtained and are being deepened. That process shows positive steps and accountability. That’s the first,” he stated.

Nevertheless, Kompolnas requests that the process does not stop at the evidence collection stage alone. With the abundance of data already in possession, the police are deemed capable of swiftly uncovering the perpetrators.

“We indeed request that it does not stop there with so many CCTVs and patterns already recorded in the incident; I think our police colleagues can be trusted to more quickly announce who the perpetrator is with a clear identity,” said Choirul Anam.

He continued that various pieces of evidence such as CCTV recordings, communication traces, and other evidence must be maximised to uncover the perpetrators, both those in the field and the intellectual actors behind the action. “Both CCTV, communication track records, and other evidence. Well, we are waiting for that. Once again, the step to uncover the process is a good step and this can become a role model for uncovering major cases. Open the transparency, open the accountability,” he said.

He also assured that Kompolnas continues to coordinate with the police to keep the investigation process transparent. Kompolnas will also monitor the case until it is resolved.

Anam emphasised that the entire law enforcement process must be based on facts, not opinions, so that the results can be accounted for. “I think because this is general criminal Reskrim, law enforcement, whatever the analysis, whatever the conclusion, it must be based on the facts found,” he stated.
