Kompolnas: Success of Operation Ketupat Indispensable from Polri's Technology-Based Approach
Jakarta, VIVA – Commissioner of the National Police Commission, Choirul Anam, has commended the successful implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026 in securing the flow of Eid homecoming and return traffic this year. He assessed that this success was inseparable from the technology-based policies applied by Polri during the operation. “Based on the figures, there has indeed been a quite significant decline, and most importantly, the use of technology. The technology approach allows the policies taken to be more objective,” Anam said in Jakarta on Tuesday, 31 March 2026. According to Anam, the success of Operation Ketupat was also due to the leadership of Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who provided clear directives to the ranks during the operation. These directives were then carried out by members in the field and supported by public participation. The Police Chief also extended the security period for the 2026 return flow, continuing with Enhanced Routine Activities (KRYD) until 29 March. Polri personnel were asked to remain in the field to ensure the public could return home safely. “The police ensure the management of Operation Ketupat runs smoothly, various potential obstacles on the roads in those areas are minimised as much as possible, but this is also part of how the public cooperates well by utilising technology, complying with all safety and security signs,” Anam stated. Kompolnas also encourages Polri to continue developing technology-based policies, particularly in traffic supervision on arterial roads, similar to the vehicle monitoring system already implemented on toll roads. “I think learning from the system developed based on e-toll that can make one-way policies effective, this can be extended to arterial roads so that the safety and security of the public in carrying out this very large cultural event can proceed smoothly,” Anam explained. Furthermore, Kompolnas appreciates all police personnel, especially Korlantas Polri, as well as the public who have supported the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026, making it run safely, orderly, and smoothly. “So the success of Operation Ketupat now is the success of a joint operation between the police and the public,” Anam clarified. Polri has officially closed Operation Ketupat 2026 and continued it with Enhanced Routine Activities (KRYD) until 29 March in accordance with the Police Chief’s directives. In this humanitarian operation, Polri succeeded in significantly reducing traffic accident fatality rates.
