Kompolnas Strengthened through Polri Law Revision in DPR
Strengthening the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) is one of seven points of change in the revision of Law No. 2 of 2002 on the Indonesian National Police (Polri), according to House of representatives (DPR) Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman during a working meeting with Justice Minister Supratman Andi Agtas, which marked the first discussion on the Polri law revision. ’ Seven, strengthening of tasks and functions and re structuring Kompolnas’s role,’ Habiburokhman said in the working meeting, as quoted from TV Parliament’s YouTube broadcast on Monday (25/5/2026). ’ Second, strengthening oversight functions and applying transparency principles using modern technology and information tools,’ he added. ’ Third, guarantees of Polri’s neutrality and professionalism in its human resource management and career system,’ Habiburokhman stated. ’ Fourth, strict and clear regulation of Polri members serving outside the institution,’ he said. ’ Sixth, implementation of a curriculum that includes humanitarian, democratic, and human rights protection principles as a reflection of a modern democratic state,’ he added. During the working meeting, DPR Commission III formally established an ad hoc committee (panja) for the Polri law revision, chaired by Habiburokhman. Meanwhile, Supratman, representing the government, stated that the state has a responsibility to strengthen Polri ’ to fulfill its core duties professionally, clean, and accountable amid increasingly complex security challenges,’ he said.
